I decided to order my first tartan kilt for the Highland Games this year. My original order was the size up and when it arrived I found it was much too large (especially since I am back to losing some extra weight) though I followed the sizing instructions on the UT Kilts website. I contacted UT Kilts via email with my findings and was recommended to pick up the next size down (this kilt) and I was able to return the kilt and receive a replacement in time for the games! This kilt is extremely comfortable and looks fantastic. The colors are beautiful and the pleats are holding up to a lot of driving/sitting so far. It's not itchy at all and despite it feeling like it would be very warm (due to the amount of fabric) I have been very cool and comfortable even in 90 degree heat here in the Pacific Northwest. I've been wearing it every weekend, and sometimes will put it on when I arrive home from work in the evenings as well. This is my 2nd kilt from UT Kilts and likely won't be my last. Great product (especially for the money) and fantastic customer service. So I'm 6'-2", 210lb, and normally wear a 36 waist pant.I measured like the instructions said, circumference at the navel. I should have been a 40. I ordered the 40 and it fell to the floor when I put it on!So I ordered the 38, I can tighten it all the way to the last hole on the adjustment tabs and it is just a little too big. Keep in mind, with the amount of adjustment available the 38 could easily fit someone with a 40 in waist.Of course they're out of stock on the 36 in the Tartan I want so I will return the 40 and have the 38 altered to fit me better.I don't know if I'm just shaped weird or what but, for me the correct size would have been me normal pant size.Believe it or not I am happy I went with this kilt over some of the others. Shipping was fast, 2 days.It may be a little more expensive than some of the other kilts but I feel it was worth it.The return process was simple and FREE!For the money I feel the Kilt is of very nice quality and looks great. At least for me the sizing was questionable.Nice 8 yarder, the fabric is sturdy, the kilt is always looking good. I love this kilt for more dressy occasions and for any time that it is really cold. It is nice and warm and always compliments my more formal look with a jacket. It does run slightly large, and is a little long, but overall a great value. I own a number of kilts and I always enjoy wearing this one.For someone who was skeptical about the price of the kilt and was expecting to get what I paid for "A cheap Kilt" was I extremely surprised by the quality and the fit. I received my Kilt today and tried it on to go out to dinner, and I received complement after complement on it. I got this to be an everyday wear kilt and it is good enough to wear to formal events! It is a heavy enough weight to drape well and light enough to not overheat this summerUpdate:Just ordered a second kilt on a Friday and it arrived on Monday super fast service with a great price. I will recommend this company too everyone!Excellent quality for the price. The fit is great. Has a nice flow and feel. If I had one criticism, I would want thicker leather in the straps, the ones that came on this kilt feel a little thin and I am concerned about how they will hold up over time.I have a regular wool kilt that I wear for formal occasions, but bought this one for use at fairs, reunions, and those occasions when a formal setting is not needed. The kilt has a good weight to it and is well made. Only wish they made one in my clan tartan, but this kilt will be used a lot more than my wool kilt. If you need an inexpensive kilt I would highly recommend it.Good value, plenty of fabric, buckles and straps could be more substantial. Nice length for my 6'5" frame, I would have gone some smaller than the waste + 2" recommended fitting.I wish it came in my clan tartan (McClean)
