I bought these shoes for my son for school. I did quite a bit of research first as he has very wide feet as well as a really high instep, so finding shoes that don't squash his feet either width-wise or height-wise can be quite a challenge.These shoes are quite heavy but my son says that he doesn't notice that when wearing them. The leather upper is very soft and they are lovely and wide at the toe so my son was able to have shoes in his regular size that fit length-ways and yet also fit width-ways - brilliant! The velcro strap allows for good adjustment across the foot and the fit on my son's foot was very secure.These shoes have, so far, only been worn for a few days but they look like they should wear quite well - despite my son's apparent best efforts to wreck them in the playground. I will update if the durability doesn't turn out to be as good as I think it should be.Overall, so far we're really impressed with the comfort and fit of these shoes. If you have wide feet then I would definitely recommend giving them a go!Update May 2018After a couple of months wear the sole of the shoe internally has begun to swell up at the sides - it seems to be some sort of cork-like material. Admittedly the shoes have got wet a few times, (they're used as school shoes, so are out in all weathers), but I would expect them to cope with that and they have always been dried well. The strap that goes across the foot has also separated into 2 - the velcro and the top bit made of shoe material parted ways a week ago. I have done my best to sew them together in an effort to help these shoes to get to the end of term...but I'm less than sure that they're going to hang in there that long. I've downgraded the rating to 3 to reflect the fact that these shoes have been a great fit for my son but their durability isn't what I'd expect.
