I bought this machine for cleaning a lot of jewelry that had gotten dusty, some that was passed down from older generations and some that I am currently wearing. I was so excited with what this little machine could do with cleaning jewelry with just distilled water. But when I got a concentrated jewelry cleaner and added the little bit to water in the machine, the results were even more miraculous! I would give this 5 out of 5 stars easily a week ago. But then, the machine quit working. I can get it to kick on for maybe 4-5 mins when I unplug it for over 10 seconds, them plug it back in. The buttons don't control it anymore. Just when powered on. I found the plug began to get hot the past couple of times and only would work maybe 3x before replugging it back in worked. I'm not sure why it isn't working properly anymore. I've not run the tank continuously for more than 20 mins. When I remove the jewelry, I dry it off and polish it before I begin a new batch. So the engine itself inside the machine hasn't been used nonstop to get overheated. I've not submerged the tank in water and I take great care not to let water drip or spill around the buttons. There have been times water does get around the buttons and I wipe them off immediately, but that should be expected seeing how they are located right next to the edge of the water tank. If they couldn't get wet at all, they'd be located near the base, not the water tank. So I'm not sure if the plug is faulty or if the machine has only so many cleanings before it begins to go on the fritz. So my recommendation would be to buy this product if you occassionally clean your jewelry. Like I said, a week ago, I would have given this product a glowing 5 out of 5 stars review. But if you need a machine to clean alot, then you might look for a different one that is better constructed for more usage. I still love it and try to get it to work for the occasional weekly cleaning.
